Ratan X

I’ll keep this short and sweet. Ratan X is a nom-de-plume that I use for my internet travels. I see no good reason to blog under one’s given name. It’s easier this way.

I live in the United States of America.

I am probably older than you.

I make ambient music.

I find inspiration in the music of Brian Eno, Laraaji, Harold Budd, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Windy & Carl and Burzum (sorry, not sorry. The guy’s an asshole, but his ambient tracks are a HUGE influence on my own work). Nonmusical influences include the night sky, abandoned buildings, distant lights, tomboys, gamines, reverse traps and catgirls.

I watch far too much anime. I usually stick with comedy series, especially ones featuring “cute girls doing cute things.” But I’m also a huge fan of Berserk and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series. The only hentai I like is vanilla yuri and futa (especially when the two are mixed). Makoto Kikuchi from Idolm@ster is “mai waifu” not that I take such things seriously. And if I ever say it, please don’t take it seriously, either.

Politically speaking, I’m on the right, but more libertarian than anything else. I won’t tell you how to live, or try to steal your money. I wish the government would abide by these precepts as well. More private charity would do us all good, but, again, I’m against forcing people to comply.

I’m a protestant Christian, but I have no desire to convert you.

Rarely do I use an Oxford comma.

I used to be a dog person, but now I’m a cat person. Cats are very independent and strong willed. They’re also a lot easier to take care of. A cat can shit on its own. A dog has to be lead outside at 3am to evacuate its bowels.

I think of new musical projects all the time. I only wish I had the ability to pull them off.

I hope you enjoyed this.

You got it!
